Lost
Did anyone else feel like the first five minutes of Lost last night was super incredible, and then the rest was just ok?

The opening was great. I think the challenge as the show matures is going to be showing us stuff about the characters that actually add something to them, which they did well last night. Also, while in season one the strength of the show was its slow pace and strong character development, it became its flaw in season 2 when the story was really ready to progress but they wouldn't let it. We'll see how they deal with that this season.

The first five minutes were intriguing, and the rest was ho-hum because none of us really believe that those 3 characters are in danger. BTW the book club was reading Stephen King's "Carrie". I was really really hoping it would be "The Shining" because I always say Walt has the shining. Kevin was thinking it was The Stand because it's about a virus created by the gov't. Instead it's a 3rd book that also draws a parallel with Walt and his rage against Michael being a douchebag. Here's hoping he makes knives fly at Michael.

Speaking of flying knives (and I apologize to everyone who's already heard me hype this) Heroes is the new shit. All the density and intrigue of Lost but without a rabid fanbase who'll tolerate boring filler episodes and a tired love triangle. (not to say that Kate's body doesn't merit the trouble)

You can watch 2nd episode in 8 minute segments, and a 2 minute summary. The 3rd episode is on monday so get in while the getting's good!

Regina and I have been discussing this for two days. I did not want to admit it but she's right. The first five minutes were awesome but the flashback scenes adding nothing to the story and just stalled the plot. The flashbacks were great at first but now they are just in the way.
