Woot! Apple releases an iPhone without the phone and more importantly, without the AT&T. Yes my friends, the iPod Touch looks promising....
Also! the iPod classic is now 160 gigs? Holy crap! And! a $200 price drop on the iPhone just a few months after it's release? Holy crap again!

These paintings by Afghan children are just incredible. I think I find them so moving beacause I've been totally smitten by Khaled Hosseini. I've read the Kite Runner twice and just read his new book A Thousand Splendid Suns, which was just as awesome. Both books have made me realize how little I know about Afghanistan and Islam in general. Our Outlook section has just run four really interesting essays on Islam.

We closed another big project on Friday. This one has been in the works for months and has been something of an unprecedented collaboration between the paper and the web. Very exciting. Check it out at Teen Shopping.

Apparently, it's true: the third time's the charm. My sister has been accepted to William and Mary as a transfer student and will start there in the fall. All I can say is thank friggin god.
EDIT: she's fine.

Karen and I closed our second doubletruck on Friday. This one's about Clarendon. You can see the graphic online here, but crack open the dead tree version of the Business section if you have it. It's much better on paper. Kim's great article is here.

Hugh and Leila's baby arrived last night. His name is Kai and he weighs 6lbs 12 oz. They're at VA Hospital Center if anyone wants to send flowers or a note. No visitors just yet.
